Mary Ellen Mohlenkamp

January 15, 1928 — July 2, 2020

Mary Ellen Mohlenkamp, 92, born on January 15, 1928, in MA, United States, passed away July 2, 2020. Mary resided in Sun Valley, CA at the time of her passing.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Kenneth, their two daughters Katie and Kim, family and friends. Mary was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mary had three grandchildren (Bernadette, Branden & Breanna) and four great grandchildren (Bethany, Violet, Zoey & Dante) all whom she loved so very much. Mary always worked very hard and helped others. As a young adult, Mary left the cold weather of Massachusetts for Sunny California and never looked back. Mary was a wonderful daughter and helped take care of her elderly Mother, Violet Kempton, whom adopted Mary at a young age. Mary also helped take care of her grandchildren after school, during summer vacations and when her daughter Kim would go out of town. Mary lived a long, full life, filled with much joy. Mary was a wonderful homemaker and a fantastic cook. She made incredible dinners for her family every night and wouldn't allow anyone else to cook in her kitchen. Mary loved the beach and laying out in the sun. When Kim and Kay were young she would often take them to Santa Monica Beach, driving streets (not freeways) all the way there. She would also take them to Catalina Island during Easter and summer vacations to work and play in the sun. Getting up extra early for Easter Sunrise Service every year and watching the sun rise up over the ocean, was one of the highlights of the trip. Mary also enjoyed trips to Lake Isabella where she would work outside all day in the yard and sometimes into the night. Always enjoying the clean, fresh air. Mary loved trips to Laughlin and Las Vegas with her family and dear friend, Kevin. Oftentimes a winner, Mary had a special knack for playing certain slot machines that were warm and that produced winnings. Always sarcastic and joking around, Mary's snarky sense of humor brought laughter and joy to all those around her. Mary's energy and capability to make her grandchildren smile will be missed. We know that she is watching over us and laughing from above with loved ones and friends, especially her son-in-law Rueben. Mary will be greatly missed and is forever in our hearts! Rest in peace Mary Ellen Mohlenkamp.
