Maxima Fernandez Laforteza

Maxima Fernandez Laforteza, 96, born on July 30, 1922, in Cabangan, Zambales, Philippines, passed away May 21, 2019. She resided in Moreno Valley, California at the time of her passing. Her career in the Philippines revolved around her degrees from the University of the Philippines, BS in Education and MS in Public Health. She worked as a teacher in Cabangan and Manila. From 1957 -1978, she worked at Manila Health Department as Senior Health Educator in collaboration with Planned Parenthood. Maxima then immigrated to the United States in 1981 where the third part of her career took place. She was involved in the Foster Grandparent Program of the Child Development Project (one of Nancy Reagan's projects as First Lady) at Lanterman Development Center in Pomona, CA.
Maxima is survived by her children (Leticia & Max Sr.), grandchildren (Leilani & Greg, Max Jr. & Hannah) and great-grandchildren (Ethan, Logan, Jeremy & Claire).
Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
