Nancy Jean Spero

Nancy Jean (Joyce) Spero, 86, born in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1933 died suddenly on October 18, 2019 in her Southern California home with her dog Finley. She attended Roosevelt High School in Ypsilanti, Class of 51, where she was a competitive swimmer in the back stroke and enjoyed an active social life with her many friends. She attended the Cleveland Normal School, Western Reserve University. She then married. After her first child was born, she moved to Los Angeles where she raised her family, and would later devote herself to her only grandson William. She received numerous awards for her public activism, including a Governors Commendation 2006, Party Chairman Commendation 2007 and was twice recognized as the California Republican Party Volunteer of the Year reflective of her tireless efforts on behalf of good government and the CRL. She was elected to the 41st AD Republican County Central Committee from 1994 – 2006, and then again in 2008. She had been quoted in the press as saying "We'll just have to have more volunteers than they have dollars." She is survived by her son, Nicholas, her daughter Diana, her grandson Will, her loving extended family, and her cherished friends. She loved her grandson, bunnies, politics and a good party, and we miss her.
