Norman's Obituary

Norman E. Green, Sr., beloved husband of Pat Green, left this earthly world on January 31, 2015 at his residence. A prayer service will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 6 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church with visitation following until 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will follow in St. Peter?s Memorial Garden with full Marine Corps Honors. Mr. Green was born in Hamilton, Ohio, January 11, 1941, to the late Virgil and Phirbia Green. He was predeceased by his brother, Adrian and sister, Janet. Surviving in addition to his wife, Pat, are three sons, Timothy (Deanna), Kenneth (Jenny) and Norman ?Gene? Green, Jr. (Amy); one daughter, Dawn Green, seven grandchildren, Clorinda, Ron and Divinian Vido, Faith, Caroline, Cadence and Morgan Green. Mr. Green served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. His military career took him to Okinawa, Vietnam (2 tours), Newfoundland, California, North Carolina, MCAS Beaufort and the Drill Field at Parris Island. Mr. Green along with his wife, Pat co-founded The Chocolate Tree in 1980. Mr. Green was a life member of the 3rd degree and 4th degree Knights of Columbus and served as a State Warden in l983. He also was a member of the Drill Instructors Association and the Disabled Veterans Association. After he retired from the Marine Corps, Mr. Green worked as a Receiver for the Commissary on Parris Island. Following his retirement from Civil Service, he was ?the host with the most? at Ollie?s Restaurant. Later he worked along with his youngest son, Gene in the Production Kitchen of The Chocolate Tree. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Peter?s Church, The Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation or Friends of Caroline Hospice.
