Forest Lawn - Cypress Obituary

Robert Gerard Caron, age 82, died in Sequim, Washington on April 23, 2021. He was a graduate of South Gate High School in South Gate, CA. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in education and was a Special Education teacher for 19 years at Buena Terra and Danbrook Elementaries. During his teaching career, he earned a life credential for teaching from Los Angeles State. He went on to obtain a Master's degree in education from Pepperdine University. Mr. Caron was a proud Irishman and French Canadian, which he inherited from his parents Ellen Louise and Ernest Gerard, as well as a dual US-Canadian citizen. He lovingly adopted a rescue dog, Shaliah, who quickly melted his heart. He asked her young pet sitter to adopt Shaliah in his final days. Robert loved his time in Sequim, especially walking on the beach at Port Williams County Park, known to his daughters as "Dad's beach."

Robert is survived by his four daughters, Christine Grauer of Virginia, Julie Remer of California, Julia Becker of South Dakota, and Emily Haney-Caron of Pennsylvania. He was very proud of his children and their work as teachers, healthcare workers, and lawyers. He also had five grandchildren whom he loved very much, Mia, Livia, Aurorali, Alexander, and Miles. He stayed in touch with his grandchildren via FaceTime during the pandemic. He is also survived by sister, Yvonne Hurt, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margo.

Funeral and burial services will take place outdoors at Forest Lawn in Cypress, CA on May 27, 2021 at 2:30 PM; all friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (https://www.vhocc.org/give) or a favorite dog rescue organization.
