Robert J. McGrath, 80, born on April 30, 1940, in Rahway, NJ, passed away in Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena on December 9, 2020. He resided in Pasadena, CA at the time of his passing.
Robert was raised in Cranford, New Jersey and attended Cranford Elementary and Cranford High School where he lettered in wrestling. He transferred and graduated from Newark Academy after which he attended Rutgers University. He spent summers as a youth picking blueberries on his Grandfathers Farm in Pemberton ,N.J. This was a fond memory and spoke of it often. He was a member of the Young Dems Club and the German Club of Clark as a young man. Robert was a Real Estate Broker by profession. He owned McGrath Real Estate, a residential real estate office in Clark N.J. Was the owner of the McGrath Development Company , building houses in the New Jersey area. Robert then became a Commercial Real Estate Broker. He was Senior Director of the Blau and Berg Company, a Commercial Real Estate Company in Millburn, N.J. during which time he achieved the prestigious CCIM designation and many awards for high sales performance. He worked for the company for over twenty five years. He retired in 2014 and moved to California to be near his daughter and family.
He was an avid reader who loved to exercise and play golf. He enjoyed listening to all genres of music . He loved to travel and especially enjoyed vacationing in Spring Lake, N.J. He cherished the time he spent with his granddaughter Lucy, especially playing games and making gingerbread cookies every Christmas with her. A tradition passed down to him from his beloved Nana.

He is survived by his devoted wife of forty four years, Susan; his loving daughter Amy and husband Brandon Bussinger and precious Granddaughter Lucille of Los Angeles. His Brother-In-Law Frederick Temple and wife Mary Ann of New Hampshire; Sister-in Law Irene and Gregory Chletsos of New Jersey; six nieces and nephews and three grand nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his mother, Katherine, his father Kenneth and brother Russell.
