Bob was a friend for many years. I will miss him. May Bob rest in peace.

I first got to know Bob when I was growing up in New York, and he had a lasting impact on me over almost 25 years of friendship. He possessed a clarity of mind and sheer ability to assimilate and systematize -- and not least remember. He could distill complexity down to sparkling aperçus, delivered, oh, maybe with a small smirk of self-satisfaction but mostly without attachment -- in the sense Buddha urges us avoid.

Robert James Rhodes was born August 29, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, and passed away May 10, 2016, in Clarksville, Arkansas, at the age of 70. He was an Adjudicator for the Veterans Administration; taught ESL at Inter American University of Puerto Rico in San German; received a Law Degree from the State of Massachusetts and a Master's Degree in English as a Second Language; was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a lifetime member of the DAV.He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Brown Rhodes and Sarah Harris Rhodes; and a nephew, Levi Carethers.He is survived by a brother, Bill Rhodes and wife, Rose, of Derby, Kansas; two sisters, Rona Carethers and husband, D, of Clarksville, Arkansas and Sandi Alley of Missoula, Montana; two nephews, Robert Rhodes and wife, Tammy, of Derby, Kansas, and John Carethers and wife, Rachel, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and three nieces, Danielle Oliver and husband, Michael, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Lisa Shaw and husband, Matt, of Mulvane, Kansas, and Dawn Alley; two great nephews and six great nieces.A Private Ceremony will be held under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville.
