I thank him for speaking to DAR, for training me, but most of all for his service to our country. May his memory be a blessing to all of us who knew him. Prayers for family and his many, many friends.

Roger's Obituary

Roger Carlton Carpenter, 74, of Vardaman passed from this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Born on May 17, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was son to the late Eugene Romie Carpenter and Mable Ashby Carpenter. 

Roger, a United States Air Force Veteran, faithfully served his country during the Vietnam conflict. When his tour in the armed forces concluded with an honorable discharge he had obtained the rank of Sargent in the 479th Security Police Squadron. Aside from his life in the military Roger, alongside his wife Julia, owned and operated T3 gun range where he taught various firearms courses ranging from basic shooting skills to concealed carry classes. Although Roger has departed from our lives, his treasured memory will hold a special place in the hearts of his loved ones and friends.    

He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking the path of life in his absence; wife, Julia Davis Carpenter; one son, David (Misty) Murr; two daughters: Suzanne Carpenter and Valerie Carpenter; one sister, Carol (Jack) McElwee; host of grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Romie Carpenter and Mable Ashby Carpenter.  

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Ellzey Memorial Church from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The funeral service remembering his life will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in the Sanctuary of Ellzey Memorial Church at 3:00 PM. Tyler Davis, Kevin Flemons, Bill Foster, John Lancaster, Rhonda Palmatree, and Jason Womack will serve as pallbearers. T3 Almuni, Dennis Herenandez, Erik Hernendez, and Butch Mixon will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The Staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Carpenter family as they begin this new season of life. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
