So sorry to all of you the family of Shirley Angelle.She was one of the nicest person I've ever known..God rest her soul !! Sorry I couldn't make it ,I had to work..

I got to know Ms. Shirley when I came to work for Jeff Bassett. I grew to love her dearly. She was so loving to everyone in her big family and community. I sought advice from Ms. Shirley when I decided to run for public office in my Parish. She would call me every couple of weeks throughout the campaign and check up on me. As a young lawyer moving to Opelousas from New Orleans more than thirty years ago, I knew hardly anyone from the area. It was my good fortune to meet Shirley and have her as one of my first clients, she knew everyone.

I soon learned Shirley was the person people came to with their problems. Their problems became her problems. Her heart was big enough to handle the load. Her hobby was helping people and she was good at it. She must have been born to do it.


We at the St. Martin Sheriff's Office want to extend our heartfelt condolence to all of he family. in the loss of your LOVE ONE, our DEAR FRIEND "SHIRLEY". She was a simple, humble, devoted, lovable, compassionate lady who helped people from all walks of life, making special stride to help the less fortunate. What a perfect example of LIFE itself.
