Not sure what to say?

Laura and Nicholas, and family.

Mike and I heard the tragic news about Tom last night. We are so,so sorry! He was the nicest neighbor anyone could ask for. Every time we look at your spectacular garden, we will think of the legacy he left in Steamboat. Please let us know if there is any thing we can do for you!

Laura,Aimee and family may y'all be comforted by the out pouring of love surrounding you. Your loss has left us all deeply saddened.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Toms passing. What a great man he was and such a great role model and caregiver to so many. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids Laura and I hope that the many wonderful memories you hold in your heart will provide you comfort in the days to come, love you

Laura, we are so deeply sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was the cornerstone of many wonderful memories while working together at Shell. And we will always treasure the memory of that wonderful trip together in Santa Fe. Our hearts and prayers are with you, the kids, and the grandchildren.
With love,
Vaughn & Brian

Thomas's Obituary

Thomas Michael Zulim was born February 16, 1958 in Fresno, California. He was the third child of John and Martha Zulim and grew up in a working class family with his sister Joyce, his brother Jim, and his first pet, a border collie named Cinder. Spoiled, loved, and adored beyond belief, he was a kid that could instantly capture your heart. He was a fearless ball of high energy and he was all boy. Tom was born a gifted athlete and school came naturally to him. He graduated early from High School and immediately considered his future and planned it out. He graduated from Fresno State with a degree in accounting, working briefly in that endeavour when he decided to go to law school. He graduated from McGeorge law school in Sacramento, California and practiced personnel law at a firm in Fresno. He went to work as a corporate attorney for Shell Oil and this brought him to Texas. In 1999, he took a position with Enterprise Products and held significant leadership positions in legal counsel, human resources and commercial.

Tom married the love of his life, Laura, and they were together nearly thirty years. Together they raised their five children: Kirsten, Aimee, Taylor, Andrew, and Victoria. He and Laura lived life fully around their kids and grandkids - Nicholas, Elisa, Emma, Ethan, Evan, and Eddi Rose. There was nothing in the world that they wouldn't do for them as long as they did their best, acted responsibly, and worked hard. They were heavily involved in cattle showing, kart racing, and sports of all kinds. Tom also developed a love of outdoor adventure and loved to hunt and fish. He thoroughly enjoyed the meticulous task of building and then flying his remote controlled gliders/airplanes. Tom loved dogs and animals of all kinds. Tom and Laura rescued hundreds of animals, adopting many dogs including ones with special needs, even rescuing a skunk. His favorite Border Collie Whiskey still waits at the door for Tom to come home.

Tom passed away of natural causes while at home in Hockley, Texas on December 28, 2018. Those wishing to do so may send a contribution to the St. Luke’s Heart Institute or the Western Border Collie Rescue, in honor of Tom.
