I will never hear Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" without remembering Vic who was my next door neighbor for many of my childhood years. Vic would practice that number on his clarinet, and the music would float out his bedroom window and into our open windows. Later, after his father and my mother lost their mates, Vic, Sr. and my mother married, which made Vic my step-brother.
