Dr. Ann Lucille Flanagan Steck Our beloved Ann, mother and friend, age 85, resident of Austin, Texas, was called by our heavenly father on Thursday, October 20, 2011. Her gift of love will spread to everyone and touch our hearts and lives forever. Ann graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1948, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She received her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas in 1972, and her Ph.D. from Walden University in 1980. Ann worked as a Public School nurse , as an instructor at Wharton County Junior College, as a supervisor at Memorial Baptist Hospital in Houston, Texas, as an instructor for the Lillie Jolly School of Nursing in Houston, and held staff and supervisory positions with the Nursing Service of the Houston Independent School District. Ann served as the Assistant Dean of Nursing at Texas Womens' University in Denton, Texas. She was a nurse with the Navajo Indians in Arizona . She worked for Seton Hospital and the Austin Independent School District until she retired. Her cremains will be interred at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point, Texas , with a lifetime supply of wildflower seeds to be scattered in the wind and carried by the birds everywhere for all eternity. A part of her will bloom forever. Mom had a wonderful fulfilling life. We shall never forget you nor forsake you. Lance, Celia, and Mark. Your mom was one of my favorite people when I was growing up. My family lived across the street from your family in Houston. I am very sad to hear of your loss. I hope you all are doing well!

I am sorry for your loss. I worked with Ann in Austin ISD. She was always helpful with special procedures for special need students. She was a very likable and positive person.
