Toni, today, October, 8, 2018, would have been our 40th wedding anniversary. You've been gone 3 1/2 years now. What a wonderful life we had together. Thanks for the memories. Your husband, Bob

Toni, I remember 40 years ago today on April 2, 1978. I formally proposed to you at your mom's house in front of your family. Where do the years go?

Your loving husband, Bob

Toni,

Time goes by so quickly. Three years ago today you were in Fort Worth at the Baylor Medical Center. Auntie Elva was with you. Dr. Milam was preparing you to begin chemotherapy.

I miss you and always will, the grieving still goes on.

Your husband, Bob

Someone sent me this.

I had my own notion of grief.
I thought it was the sad time
That followed the death of
someone you love.
Any you had to push through it
To get to the other side.
But I'm learning there is no other side.
There is no pushing through.
But rather,
There is absorption.
Adjustment.
Acceptance.
And grief is not something you complete,
But rather, you endure.
Grief is not a task to finish
And move on,
But an element of yourself -
An alteration of your being.
A new way of seeing.
A new definition of self.
