Charles "Charlie" Domenici
Charlie Domenici, lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away at his home on January 21, 2018. Charlie was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Charlie began his working career at the age of 14 working for his family's wholesale grocery business. Charlie was a star athlete at St. Mary's High School and later played basketball for The College of St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande. His athletic career was cut short when he was drafted into the army and served during the Korean War. Following the war, Charlie began working at H. Cook Sporting Goods. As an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman, it was natural for him to open Charlie's Sporting Goods in 1972 where he was a staple for 45 years.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. He is survived by: son, Dominic and wife, Shellie of Casper, WY; daughter, Valerie and husband, Charlie of Albuquerque, NM; son, Chuck and wife, Donna of Albuquerque, NM; and five grandchildren: Leslie Jackson of Albuquerque, NM, Jasper Domenici of Farmington, NM, Rici Domenici of Tucson, AZ, Quinlan Domenici of Albuquerque, NM, and Gabriella Domenici, of Albuquerque, NM.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary being recited on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 29, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be Joe Menicucci, John Menicucci, Danny Lucero, Tom Knauber, Troy Lamb, Joe Kopczynski and Eric Hamberger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Medina, Andrew Provencher, Jasper Domenici, Quinlan Domenici and Michael Ciaccio Sr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jeanne E. Bray Scholarship in memory of Charles Domenici. Please write Charles Domenici on the memo line of the check. Checks may be mailed to NRA, Millissa Coder, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030. Donations may also be given to the family and they will forward them to the scholarship fund.
