Purchase, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Purchase, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on September 16, 2016, one week after her 93rd birthday.
Dottie was born in 1923 in St. Louis, MO to John Dowd and Blanche Hugg. In 1945 she married Wayne L. Purchase and moved to Michigan where she lived in Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Portage. In 1976, she moved to Albuquerque with her daughter. She first worked at Pioneerwear, then at Albuquerque Public Schools as a payroll technician until her retirement.
Dottie loved life and enjoyed traveling, concerts, plays, and dancing. She was an avid bridge, bingo player and golfer. She was recognized for getting two holes in one when she was 79. Her smiles, laughter, sense of adventure and lemon meringue pies will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Dottie is survived by her son, Gary Purchase; daughter, Kathy Maxson and husband Jeff; grandson, Jonathan Purchase; step-grandsons, Nate and Gabe Maxson; sister, Pat Rogers; nephew, Jack Rogers and wife Jani; niece, Sharon Neary and husband, Bill, all of the Dallas area; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dottie spent the last few months of her life under the loving care of the caregivers at Aspen Care and Presbyterian Hospice and the family is so grateful for their help.
Friends and family may visit Thursday, September 29, 2016, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH â€" Wyoming. A Rosary will be recited Friday, September 30, 2016, 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., both at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE.
