My family and I first came to know and greatly admire Joanne and her husband Rev. Al when Al was our pastor and Joanne, our pastor's wife, at White Rock Presbyterian Church, Los Alamos, NM, from the late 1970s- the early 1980s. In 2004, I reconnected with the Parkers, when we discovered that the Parkers had also served our present church home, First Presbyterian, Lawrence,KS. At FPC, Lawrence, we soon were doubly blessed when we befriended Al and Winnie Gallup, the Parkers' wonderful best friends in Lawrence, whom I am sure Joanne's son and daughter remember well. The Gallups and we often shared stories about the Parker family. Winnie even telephoned me to inform me of Rev. Al Parker's passing. Now,these close friends in life, the Parkers and Gallups, are reunited in Heaven. Al passed away at age 100 just this spring, and Winnie,at age 95,just a few months later, this past summer. Joanne's family, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Like all who were blessed to know Joanne (and, of course, Al), we have such wonderful memories of this warm and gracious woman and will miss her very much! She was so beautiful, both inside and out!
