John was our landlord. He and Betty were just the sweetest couple. They would even come visit. He loved my mom's tamales. They both were so humble and good fair people. The kind you don't see too often. We shared some meals and great conversation. We even gave him a hockey stick signed by the once existing New Mexico hockey team. He liked it, even showed us a few moves. He was one of the best people I ever met. Rest In Peace John.

I just learned of John's death. John and Betty were good friends from the time we moved to Los Arboles in 1991. I had ordered bees which had arrived at the post office before the hives came, and the post office employees sure wanted them out of there. So, I picked them up and John helped me get them set up in temporary quarters until the hives arrived. Our kids would play in their yard, and Betty invited us over to pick cherries which we pitted with her fabulous old-fashioned pitter. For several years we were each others' chauffeurs to and from the airport, and once my husband Ed and I visited John and Betty in Kauai. They were wonderful neighbors and friends. I miss them both.
