This is many months later, as our family just found out about this very sad news regarding our cousin, Joyce....we recently tried to connect with her and got no response - via phone and email - we just wanted to touch base, tell we love her and that we miss her! My husband and I had a wonderful chance to be in Albuquerque a couple of years ago and I was able to spend a couple of days with Joyce - going out to a Greek Restaurant for dinner and the next day going to house to meet Jim and her sweet dog and to make turkey sandwiches together and to just laugh and share memories of our families.....
We will remember Joyce fondly and wish we had not been separated by so many miles....she adored her family and was a wonderful person, cousin, friend - and funny! We will miss you!

Joyce was an incredible mentor and friend. We shared many laughs and I will miss our down-to-earth conversations. She was a wonderful inspiration to me with her stories from working with men in the military and all of the OT and PT she participated in after her surgeries - what a trooper! We are all lucky to have known her and although I was never able to meet her family I heard so many stories and saw photos and I know she is very proud of her children and grandchildren!! She was always making friends with people in her apartment complex, and her social life was an inspiration to me!! I am so thankful for the UNM senior mentor program that allowed me to connect with her and I am wishing the best to you, Joyce - and to those who will carry her memory and humor on to future generations.
