Mary Dalle Montgomery
Mary Dalle Montgomery, 88, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018. The daughter, of Italian immigrants, Modesto and Pia (Barsanti) Dalle, Mary was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. Mary graduated from St. Vincent's Academy and was the last surviving member of her class. She took Journalism classes at UNM and for many years was the Assistant to the President at The Credit Bureau of Albuquerque. It was there that she met the love of her life, her "Sweetheart", Robert D. Montgomery, who preceded her in death after 56 years of devoted marriage. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rita Dalle. Mary is survived by her treasured only child, Marie Schwaner and her husband, Jeff; 3 beloved grandchildren, Stephen and wife, Sarah, Annie and Ryan Schwaner as well as a much delighted in great grand-daughter, Lily Grace, daughter of Stephen and Sarah. She also leaves behind a sister, and constant texting and crossword puzzle buddy, Emma Menicucci; as well as
many nieces, and nephews. Known as "Ninny" to her grandchildren, Mary's life revolved around her much loved family. She was a very devoted Catholic and was considered "the family prayer warrior". She was proud of her Italian heritage and kept alive many food traditions from the old country in the town of Lucca in Tuscany. Her Italian roots ran deep; faith, family and food were what gave her joy. She will always be remembered for her extreme generosity, cooking skills, sense of humor as well as a bit of an endearing stubborn streak.
