When I was growing up in Clovis, New Mexico, my good friend from Boy Scout Troop 61 was Dick De Lozier. When I would visit his house, "Muddy" would always be there with some amazing food that we never had at my home (cream puffs or guacamole). When I would visit their ranch, out near Melrose, I learned to hunt birds, practice driving a Ford truck, avoid getting bitten by rattlesnakes, unload 40,000 pounds of bagged salt for the cows from a trailer by hand, and climb a windmill. "Muddy" was kind and hospitable to me and to every guest that came to her house. After high school graduation in 1970, I lost touch with Dick, but in recent years, with the help of the internet, I located 'Muddy's" mailing address in Albuquerque and began sending her Christmas cards. She remembered me and took the time to write back and even included a joke or two in her correspondence. "Muddy" was a strong, wise woman with an unending supply of humor, compassion, hospitality, and patience. She read everything! I am privileged to have known her as my friend's mother. To the De Lozier family, I tell you what you already know. "Muddy" is among the finest people to have ever walked this planet. May God bless you in your loss. Steve Francis, Plano, Texas
