Virginia Austin Herrera, wife, mother, nana, sister and auntie entered the presence of our Lord to rest in her heavenly home at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family. Nana Virginia will forever be remembered by her children, Gilbert (Olivia), Reynaldo (Peggy), daughter, Dorothy Sanchez, Edward, Geno, James (Carol Lynn); 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Justo Herrera; sons, Justo Jr. and Mike Herrera; grandson, Matthew Herrera; sister, Viola and brothers, Edward, Joe, Frank, and Alfred. Nana Virginia touched the lives of many, always sharing her smile with everyone. She loved to cook the best comfort food and feed all who entered her home with an endless supply of homemade tortillas. Nana Virginia cherished her time caring for each one of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed family functions and dressing up. Nana always had an ear to listen even through all the noise of a large family. She enjoyed family conversation, sharing memories and never failed to chuckle at all her boys' sense of humor. Her love, kindness and generosity will be forever missed. Pallbearers: Marcos Sanchez, Mario Herrera, Mathias Herrera, Josiah Herrera, Jeff Herrera, Debrionna Herrera Mulhall. Honorary Pallbearers: Noah Herrera, Alisha Herrera, Nicole Herrera, Tanya Herrera, Maria Urrutia. The family would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Life Spire Assisted Living caregivers and Alliance Hospice. A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.to 6:30 p.m. followed by, Recitation of the holy rosary will be on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. FRENCH - Westside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Virginia on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th St. NW Albuquerque, NM 87114. Interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St. Santa Fe, NM 87501.
