Sapien, Virginia P. "Virgie"
Virginia P. Sapien "Virgie", age 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 61 years, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 after a prolonged illness.
She is survived by her children, Andrew E. Sapien and significant other, Charlene Fletcher, Robert E. Sapien and wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Cameron Sapien and Abigail Sapien; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Virgie was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Sapien; daughter, Roberta Sapien; sisters, Cruzita Gabaldon, and Romanita Baca; brother, Celso Padilla; and friend, Tony Sanchez. She was born in 1937 in Belen, NM and graduated from Belen High School. Virgie met Philip in Albuquerque where they operated several small businesses including the Club Chesterfield, the Red Baron, and P and C Construction, and raised their family. She worked for the New Mexico Department of Health Scientific Laboratories and subsequently at APS until her retirement. Virgie was an avid reader and loved her time at the casinos. She was a spitfire with a great sense of humor. Virgie was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Rosary will be recited Friday, December 30, 2016, 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Prayer Service, 10:30 a.m. at FRENCH â€" Lomas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Virgie's name to the Humane Society
