Bob Elliott was a wonderful man to work with in the Child Protection world. He kept us on our toes and asked that we do our best to present the cases to help free children so they could have a chance in a loving adoptive family. Even as he fought his battle with cancer, he gave it all his energy to keep trying and doing all he could to provide a safer future for the children in foster care. He was clever and witty and knew the law. He helped us all try to be better as workers and people in general. His memory will be cherished.

Melvin's tribute to his brother says it all. Though I remember Robert in only a vague way when we went to Holy Savior, I know the family and what wonderful people they were, especially to my in-laws. All hail Robert! A life well lived. May we all be able to say the same in our final hours.

Bob was a real advocate. He always fought for the little man. My prayers go to his family at this difficult time.

Bob was a young attorney when I worked with and supervised him for the Mental Health Advocacy Service. This was before his employment with DCFS. He quickly became a good friend. After we both moved on to other work, we did not see each other often. When I learned he was ill, we reconnected and had a wonderful conversation. We shared, laughed, cried and consoled each other. I will never forget his loving and good hearted nature. He tolerated me well and I loved him. I will miss him. My condolences to his mother, his family and to Mike.

Dearest Robert,

Thank you for the depth of your love and generosity. Never was there a more giving individual who so passionately cared for others. Even though I am the "Outlaw" of the family, and the eldest of my siblings, I always thought of and cherised you as my protective big brother. I will miss you and your mischevious twinkle. I love you and miss you deeply. PEACE BE WITH YOU!!!

Respectful regards,

Tish Elliott

One of the most decent people I will ever know. Supportive of his mom, loved to mingle with his nephews and his niece as they grew into adulthood, it was always nice to have him at my Christmas Table, and whenever the family would get together at my house. He had a passionate concern for his " children" , that he represented as the "Children's Advocate" for the protective services that he worked under for Louisiana. He loved to travel and see new sights. He loved to experience new places , new foods, new cultures and new people. As we both got older we both had problems with diverticulosis, arthritis in our joints and backs , lost all our hair and both had problems with our waistlines( we would refer to this as "The Curse Of The Toups' ", as our mom was a Toups ). When mom needed help after dad died , he was always the first to offer to help. Yes he will be missed. My only relief in all of this is that he is no longer in pain. Rest in peace brother, your mission in live is over. Thank you for being a good brother, my wife and I and all of my adult children are better people for having grown up with you and sharing your life with ours. Melvin
