Joyce N. Carmichael, 85-year-old Alamogordo resident since Sept. 1992, passed away Dec. 13, 2011, at her home in Alamogordo. Joyce was born July 15, 1926, in Cheyenne, Wyo. Her parents, Austin C. Leasure and Minnie (Morgan) Leasure adopted her at the age of 12 days. She grew up in Northern Wyoming near Cody. She married Bruce Jones and they had three children, Gary B. Jones, James A. Jones and Renae (Jones) Sciucchetti. She lived in Northern California for 49 years before coming to Alamogordo, where she married her present husband.
Joyce is survived by her beloved husband, Marvin E. "Red" Carmichael; one son, James A. Jones and his wife, Joyce, of Pine Grove, Calif.; one daughter, Renae Sciucchetti of Grants Pass, Ore.; and grandchildren, Jeff Jones and his wife Rebecca of Pine Grove, Jason Jones and his wife Julie of Gresham, Ore., and Ryan Smith of Grants Pass, Ore.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Bruce Jones.
At her request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Inurnment will be in St. Helena Cemetery, St. Helena, Calif.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
