Carl Wade Obituary

Carl E. Wade went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 26, 2017. He was born to Ernest and Gladys Wade on September 24, 1934. He grew up in Ruidoso, N.M. and moved to Alamogordo, N.M. where he met and married Merry Dell Pilgreen on September 24, 1959.

Carl is survived by his wife, Merry Dell, his daughter, Susan Misener and her husband, Gary, their daughters Jana and Annette. He is also survived by his son, Carl and wife Sara and their daughter, Jordan. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ernest and Gladys Wade, his brothers, Hubert and Dale Wade, his sister, Dena Malone and his grandson, Garrett Misener.

Carl was proud to be an American and served in the United States Army. He went on to have a great career as an Instrumentation Technician at the Holloman AFB Test Track where he worked on ejection systems for aircraft such as the F-16B and the B-1 Bomber.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports such as golf and football. He kept the faith that the Dallas Cowboys would one day win another Super Bowl.

Carl was known for his warm welcome to everyone at church where he taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School and served as a deacon for most of his life. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to help those in need.

My memories of Carl go back many years. Carl was a very special family friend. He and my older brother (Fred Moore) were great friends from their youth. They worked together at the Piggly Wiggly on New York. They would come into the Mity Nice Bakery (my parents owned) where I waited tables for their coffee breaks. They would order a 'CUP OF MUD". Just shows what a wonderful sense of humor Carl (and Fred) had. The two became related by Fred marrying Carl's cousin, Pauline Peterson. Carl married one of my best friends, Merry Dell Pilgreen. They are a very special and lovely couple. Carl always had a gentle loving spirit, caring deeply about people. I know he rejoiced at the fact that I now have a very dear husband (almost 50 years now) after going through some troubled times.

We always tried to see Carl and Merry Dell whenever we were visiting back in Alamogordo. We enjoyed getting together with them, either in their home, or at Bill and Normal Hullett's home, or sometimes in a restaurant. The world would be a better place if there were more people like Carl Wade. We will always treasure the friendship we shared. God bless the lovely family. From French and Shirley Crook

Carl was always happy to see you, loved to sit and visit. I will miss seeing him walking around the streets by his house. I know he is walking in heaven smiling and waving to all as he walks by. ( I hope he gets to put in a good word for the Cowboys this year to the Big guy ) Love to his sweet family
