Carl L. Foltz, 75, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 23, 2017 at his home. Carl will be missed by all his friends, and most especially by his family. He was a man who was more concerned with the needs and wishes of others than his own. He was the true definition of selflessness, having no concern for oneself, especially with regards to fame, position and money. He was knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects that made him a "handyman" to many people.
Carl proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. After his military service, he worked for 35 years at Rat Scat, before retiring as a Chief Master Model Maker.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Nora; his children, Tony (Robin) Foltz of Coburn, PA, Carla (Dean) Durant of Rio Rancho, NM, Darren (Michelle) Foltz of La Luz, NM, daughter-in-law Candi Foltz of Florida, grandchildren, Adam, Darian, Cole, Shaunnah, Emilye, and Jon. He is also survived by his siblings, Bernice (Russell) Beaton, Richard Foltz, Diane (Dale) Musser, Lucille (Bob) Brown, John (Chris) Foltz, and Sue Foltz all residents of Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Helen Guerra of Tularosa and Virginia (Tony) Duran of Ft. Worth; and several nieces and nephews. Carl also leaves behind his coffee buddies who met every day at 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. for "coffee talk" throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Edna Foltz, son, Brian Foltz, and his grandson, Ray Montoya.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel. The rosary and memorial service will begin at 9 a.m.
A reception luncheon will immediately follow at the St. Francis de Paula Parish Hall in Tularosa.
The Foltz family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services..

Carl was a good man. We used to joke a lot. He had a gruff sort of voice but a heart of gold. Spoke of and loved his family very much. Rest in peace Carl and many prayers for your loved ones. God bless.

Mr. Foltz,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

When I read the obituary, I knew what was said was so true. When Don and I were going to school, times were very hard. We had no reliable transportation. Carl would find a car, fix it up and give it to us. When that car gave out he would find another. He said little but his actions spoke volumes. I am so grateful for all he did and so very sorry for your loss. No words can comfort you but I will pray and keep you in my thoughts.

With my deepest sympathy to the entire family. I have know Carl for 28 years. I remember calling for Carla and this big gruff voice answers and I wonder did I get the wrong number. Yikes. I think all of Carla's and Darren's friends know what I am talking about. Memories of Carl and his dog, his amazing cooking, building brick fences, Carl sitting in the living room, working on his cars, remodeling his bathroom floor, the list goes on and on. What great memories we all will have of this loving and gentle man. My heart goes out to Nora, Carla, Darren, and Tony and the entire family..
