Leah Torres , 84, passed away on January 31, 2017 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on January 19, 1933 in Lawrence, Kansas to George and Kathryn (McCall) Robson.
Leah graduated high school and attended Kansas University Nursing School. In 1952 she relocated to Socorro, New Mexico and married Roger J. Torres and began their family. Leah began her career with Mountain Bell as a telephone operator. In 1954 the family relocated to Alamogordo. Leah retired from US West in 1981 when the company divested. She then went to work at Walmart in the fabric/craft department, which was one of her passions. She retired from Walmart after 20 years of distinguished service at age 79.
Leah was proceeded in death by her mom, Kathryn Robson; her husband, Roger J. Torres; her sons-in-law, Richard Jones and Richard Marrujo. She is survived by three children, Charlotte K Jones, Lisa M (Richard) Suggs, and Marcus (Pam) Torres; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Alamogordo, NM.
Graveside services will be held at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo, NM on Saturday, February 4, 2017 @ 10 AM.
A special thanks to Alamogordo Home Care & Hospice and the many special ladies who cared for Leah in her final days.
The Torres family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Leah's name to Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Lisa and Charlotte, I'm sorry for your loss of your mom. I've known her for a long time since she worked at the old walmart. I would sit with her at a lot of our Christmas parties. She was a nice and a head strong lady. :) She always made time to talk to. She was a very good listener too. She will be missed.

Charlotte & Lisa, so sad to know Leah has passed! She was such a special lady! So many wonderful memories of our families Years as neighbors and growing up together! She was like a 2nd Mom! All the Tekell's loved her, and she will have a grand reunion with them, Glee passed in Nov, so she is there too! You have prayers of encouragement and sympathy,. I know it's a tough time! Know that you are loved even though we have drifted a part! You are always in my heart! Love you! Susie
