Mashni, Barbara Jean 12/24/1930 - 11/30/2018 Ann Arbor, Michigan Barbara Jean Mashni passed away peacefully in her Ann Arbor home on November 30, 2018. Barbara was born to Alvina and Moses Bennett Jones on December 24, 1930, in Covington Kentucky and grew up along with her brother Robert Jones in the Covington area. She earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in psychology from the University of Kentucky and married Nabih Boulus Mashni on June 10, 1954. Their long marriage ended with his passing on December 7, 2011. Barbara was a loving mother to six children, Laila Shull (Donn Shull), Lisa Olson (Eric Olson), David Mashni (Garret Street), Carol Simmons (David Simmons), Janet Jalila Mashni (former spouse John Seeburger) and Kathie Mashni. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, Christine Olson (Ray Schamp), Ryan Olson, Madeline Olson, Stephen Kilburn-Simmons (Elizabeth), Elizabeth Simmons, Erin Simmons, Job Seeburger, Mara Seeburger, and Violet Seeburger. Barbara always possessed a sharp intellect and a love of learning. She will also be remembered for her kind gentle spirit, generosity, devotion to family, resourcefulness, and sense of humor. A memorial service will be held in late December to honor Barbara and to celebrate her life. Details will be forthcoming. Donations may be made in her memory to Food Gatherers (1 Carrot Way, Ann Arbor, MI 48105), an organization working to alleviate hunger in the local community.
