Farrell, William E 6/30/1942 - 12/14/2017 Hiram, Georgia Farrell, William Edward (Bill), Age 75. Resident of Hiram, GA, died peacefully early Thursday Morning after a long struggle with Corticobasal Degeneration. To his family, Bill was a kind and gentle man. He was the type of man who had had an unwavering work ethic and was often the quiet voice of reason. He always went out of his way to ensure another's comfort before his own and he never complained. He raised his children and taught them to be kind and love their families above all else. Bill loved to get together with family and friends and was always sure to parley a good conversation. He was an avid recreational golfer, cherishing his time out on the links with a rotating crew of Brothers (in-law included), Cousins and Nephews. Even continuing to ride along long after he could no longer swing a club just to hang out with friends and family discussing the subjects of the day. Though he moved out of Ann Arbor shortly after high school, he never lost passion for his beloved Michigan Wolverines. Even at the end, he proudly rooted on his home team against "that team down south" even though he could no longer utter the phrase "Go Blue!". For Christmas two years ago, he was the proud recipient of a trip to Orlando with both his sons to cheer the Wolverines on to victory against the Florida Gators in the Citrus Bowl, a dream come true. Preceding him in death was his wife of 45 years, Jill, his brother Michael Farrell, sister-in-law Mary (John) Farrell. He is survived by his brother John Farrell, sisters Kathy (Rick) Mortimer, Betsy (James) Pulliam, his sons Thomas (Jennifer) and Douglas (Catherine), grandchildren Samuel Thomas, Abigail Rose, Alexander Douglas and Kristen Read and special friend Phyllis (Townsley) Berlin. A private memorial service was held by family on Friday, December 15th in Georgia and an open memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday March, 17th, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 3450 Dover St., Dexter, Michigan. Visitation will be at 11 am and the service will be at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bill's favorite charity, Camp Sunshine at www.mycampsunshine.com or 1850 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
