Mr. Townsley was my favorite teacher at Northville High in the mid 70's! I was the 4th of my siblings to take Civil War from him, and as a freshman on my 1st day of class he told me he was well aware of my older brothers and sister's propensity to nod off during his war films. Therefore, he planned on sitting right behind ME during each movie so he could nudge my shoulder every few minutes to make sure I was staying awake. Ha! I really enjoyed his class but he made a good call because I definitely would have slept through every single film if he hadn't babysat me all semester!
Mr. Townsley made me want to learn, and I admired him very much. To his family, I am very sorry for your loss - he was a great guy.

Mr. Townsley has been on my mind recently, probably because of all the Korea turmoil. I remembered he served in the Korean war. He was the best teacher I ever had. He helped me think, express myself thoughtfully and value learning. I loved his classes. As he did, I too loved American history, because he made it so very interesting.

Saddened to hear of Jack's passing. Dave always spoke highly of Jack during his tenure at NPS.

We were so young, and so was he! when we shared a few years of history classes in Whitmore Lake High. We loved to watch him, in his eagerness to expound, practically tear the US map off its hinges. We loved him.
