Hoffmeyer, Shirley 11/22/1944 - 4/15/2021 Canton, Michigan It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Agnes (Siegel) Hoffmeyer announces her passing on Thursday, April 15, 2021, in Canton, MI. Shirley was a loving wife, mother of 3, and Nana to 2 grandchildren. She passed away at the age of 76. Shirley was born November 22nd, 1944, in Grand Rapids, MI to Martin and Nelda (Butler) Siegel. 50 years ago, on June 15th, 1968, she married the love of her life, David John Hoffmeyer. Together they raised 3 daughters, Heather, Kristen, and Kimberly. Shirley, a lifelong resident of Ann Arbor, had a passion for traveling and photography. Her favorite place to travel with her husband was to the Smokey Mountains, where she would photograph bears and various wildlife, along with the beautiful flora in the area. Her passion for travel and family vacations are a tradition that will continue with her daughters and grandchildren. She was a mother figure to many and always the go to person for advice and to lend a compassionate ear. After retiring as office manager from Lamaze Association in Ann Arbor, she spent her free time taking floral arrangement classes, volunteering at hospitals and several retirement centers, and enjoying outings with her Red Hat Society friends. Shirley is preceded in death by her mother, Nelda; father, Martin; brother, Norman; and husband, David. She is survived by her 3 children, Heather (Chad), Kristen (Matt), and Kimberly (Jamal); 2 grandchildren, Jaylen and Lily; her 2 brothers, Philip and Frank; and 2 sisters, Virginia and Marlene. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday April 22nd from 5 to 8 at Nie Funeral Home on 3767 W. Liberty Rd. Ann Arbor, MI 48103. The family is asking that all monetary donations be sent in Shirley's name to the American Cancer Society.

I often sat near Shirley in our floral arranging group. I admired her talent and whimsical addition of birds to her arrangements. They would always bring a smile to my face.

I knew Shirley as a recent member of the Pittsfield Sr. Ctr. Flower Arranging group. Shirley was always ready to give help and suggestions to people like myself who needed it. As Judy has remarked her trademark birds were always present and cheerful.

Shirley was a valued member of our Pittsfield Sr. Center Flower Arranging Class. She always added a bird ornament on the backside of her arrangements. It became her trademark! May her name be a blessing.
