I was saddened to hear of Bill's Passing. I am the son of his step sister Marian Dawson Moyers. They discovered each other in the late 70's and per my mother finally met in the early 80's. I talked to Bill via telephone when my Mother died in 2006. She was a very admiring step sister and talked about Bill a lot. My condolences to all the Dawson family.

Blessings

I am very sorry to learn of Bill's passing. Although I joined the U-M faculty the year after he retired, we interacted quite frequently over the years due to him maintaining his emeritus office in the University of Michigan's Museum of Zoology (in its former Ruthven location).

Bill had a long and and distinguished academic career at the U-M. His impressive scholarly achievements were complemented by his significant administrative contributions as Chair of the Department of Biology (1974-1982) and as Director of the Museum of Zoology (1982-1993), as outlined in his U-M faculty memoir:

I enjoyed Bill's erudite company, valued his consul, and send my sincere condolences to his family.

Bill Dawson defined the word "Gentleman". I am saddened to learn of his passing. He and Ginnie have been a pleasure to know and work with. My condolences to you Virginia.
