Donald Joseph Ruoff

Donald Joseph Ruoff, 75, of Waretown, NJ passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. He was born April 14, 1941, in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Edward Milton Ruoff and Anne Ruoff. Don received his undergraduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his graduate degree from St. John's University. He enjoyed a career in New York City with Dun & Bradstreet that spanned three decades. He spent many hours on the water fishing with family and friends. Don was a long-suffering New York Jets fan, having spent many Sundays attending games with his sons. He always looked forward to trips to Charlotte to visit his family, including his beloved granddaughter Emmy, and was particularly excited about the upcoming birth of his grandson this summer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret Ruoff of Waretown, NJ. His survivors include his son, Scott Ruoff of Charlotte, NC; his son, Steven Ruoff, his daughter-in-law, Holly, and his granddaughter, Emmy, all of Charlotte, NC; and his sister-in-law, Claire McAlinden of Cape May, NJ. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 12:30 pm. Both the visitation and memorial service will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave. Red Bank, NJ 07701. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice or The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties online at www.foodbankmoc.org or by mail to 3300 Route 66, Neptune, NJ 07753.

Dear Scott, Steven and Holly,
I was so sorry to learn of Dad's passing just today.
Sending prayers and love your way. My deepest condolences to all of you. Praying that Mom and Dad are together and that the wonderful memories of them will carry you through this most difficult time.
I have many memories of The Ruoffs and will treasure them always!
