Elizabeth "Betty" G. Byrnes
AGE: 84 • Brick
Elizabeth "Betty" G. Byrnes, 84, of Brick passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother.
Born in Kirkintilloch, Scotland she came to the United States of America in 1959 and settled in Elizabeth, NJ. Mrs. Byrnes has been a Brick resident since 1968.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Peter Byrnes, Sr.; daughter, Mary Ellen Ruschmeyer; and by her granddaughter, Mikaela Mary O'Hare Byrnes. Surviving are three sons, Robert "Bob" Byrnes and his wife Ann Marie O'Hare; John "Jack" Byrnes and his wife Laurie Byrnes, and David Byrnes; sister, Christine McGoldrick and her husband, John of Scotland; four grandchildren, Peter John Byrnes, Brandon Byrnes, Alyssa Byrnes and Faith Ruschmeyer. She also leaves a son-in-law, John Ruschmeyer and his wife, Sherri Ruschmeyer; sister-in-law, Ellen Sinnott; and a nephew, Bobby Sinnott.
Visiting will be on Saturday from 3-5pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be offered at 4:30pm in the funeral home. Final interment will take place at the NJ Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations may be made in her name to the Point Pleasant Elks, Special Needs Committee, 820 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742.
