Chris, Donna, Bobby and Liz,
The best neighbors and the sweetest neighborhood Mom!! Always loved the sound of the piano coming from your house on 76th street, wonderful memories! When she left 76th street she gave me the most beautiful bowl that she told me she filled with Christmas Ornaments and I have done the same in my home every Christmas and always think of her when I do.
Thinking of all of you, but especially Liz, Miss you very much!

Betty and John, her husband, and her children, Donna, Chris, Bob and Liz, were a big part of my life growing up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. John grew up with my father, Paul Christiansen, and their friendship lasted a very long time. The Romano's were generous, fun, musical, warm, gregarious...They planned yearly picnic reunions in Long Island, and, as a kid, it was one of the highlights of the summer. Picture tons of kids (maybe 30 or so?) running around a huge park looking for clues in a scavenger hunt, adults playing competitive games (men threaded needles, women hammered nails), a softball game, more kid games...as a teacher, I'm sure Betty had a lot of the ideas for keeping us all entertained. We also spend many Christmas Eve nights at their lively open house party. I am grateful for the experience of having known her. Sincerely, Diane (Christiansen) Tevlin, Portland, Oregon

I remember Mrs. Romano from my years as a student at St. Ephrem's. I never forgot her. She had a powerful influence on us.
