Joseph Williams

Cascade - Joseph Randolph "Randy" Williams was born January 7, 1932 in Pittsylvania County in Cascade, Virginia to the late Joe Wesley Williams and Cora Millner Williams.

Randy attended his early education in Cascade and completed his education after leaving Virginia at Chester High in Pennsylvania. He also attended City College (CCNY) where he majored in Business while holding down two jobs.

Randy was most proud of his military career. He enlisted in the US Army on May 22, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA and received basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. He retired from the Army as a Command Sergeant Major after serving thirty (30) plus years on active duty. He traveled around the world, including one (1) tour in Korea, two (2) tours in Germany, and two (2) tours in South Vietnam. He was seriously wounded in the Tet Offensive in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart in 2008.

Randy was preceded in death by six sisters and seven brothers.

Left to cherish his memory are: his devoted, loving wife, Lilly; his faithful, loving brother Frank (Anne); sister-in-law, Ernestine Williams, brother-in-law, Henry Seaborough; over 50 nieces and nephews, over 200 great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, other familial members, church family, neighbors and friends.

A viewing will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Red Bank, NJ. The service will follow at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Terrence K. Porter will officiate.The interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
