Marie Conti

Ocean - Marie Conti nee Cusano passed away peacefully at her home in Ocean, New Jersey on Monday, January 11 at the age of 97. Born in Atlantic City, NJ during the "hay day" she met her husband George Louis Conti of fifty years, she grew to love the beach and spent her life enjoying the sea with her family and friends.

Marie was a devout Roman Catholic and said the rosary every morning. She loved God, her family and life long friends, and life itself. She emitted a rare beauty and grace inside and out to everyone who was lucky to know her. Along with her husband George Sr. they raised six children on Cherry Tree Farm Rd. in Middletown. Together they instilled strong values such as the importance of God and family. The example she leaves behind for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is to "love one another". Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who gave much of her time and support to many organizations and charities. She will continue to live in our hearts, minds and souls forever.

Marie was predeceased by her late husband George Louis Conti, Sr. and her grandson George Louis Conti. She leaves behind her six children, George Brian Conti (June), Maureen Stavola (William), Kathy Meyers (Jerry), Karyn Rea (Geoff), Michael Conti (Beth), Robert Conti (Maria), grandchildren Tina Conti, Eddie Conti (Margot), Christopher Stavola (Andrea), Jason Stavola, Melissa Morino (Josh), John Meyers (Elizabeth), Casey Meyers (Juliette), Ryan Meyers, Kristen Miller (Andrew), Carson Rea, Samantha Conti, McKayla Conti, Cole Conti, Sophia Conti, Bella Conti, Mia Conti, Cecilia Conti and great grandchildren Hannah Stavola, Olivia Stavola, Talia Pritzlaff, Tiana Pritzlaff, Chloe Morino, Jack Morino, Caleb Morino, Matthew Meyers, Molly Meyers, Charlotte Meyers, Dylan Meyers and Poppy Miller. She is survived by Richard Cusano and her nieces Barbie and Marie.

We would like to thank her many wonderful friends for their love and support. A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family on Saturday. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wounded Warriors and St. Jude. Thompson Memorial Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

I was so sorry to hear this. Aunt Marie was a beautiful lady, inside and out. I have fond memories of spaghetti dinners on Cherry Tree Farm Lane.

There’s a beauty beyond looks that can be found in a select few. GG, as my children know her, captured, carried, and spread that beauty wherever she went as if covered in a magical pixy dust - she floated as she moved and spoke; she had a high air of dignity about her; she was, in the simplest of terms, undeniably elegant. Under that elegance was a cunning toughness and determination that persevered in the face of adversity, it is what trickles down the family tree into her great-grandchildren’s’ lives - oh, and how vibrantly that fruit feeding sap! Her legacy resides in that fruit... those children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that will continue her tradition in their own elegant, magical, and rugged way. Thank the God of heaven; there’s a beauty beyond looks that can be found in families handed down by a select few.

Aunt Marie was a wonderful person with the class and beauty that made her a special part of the family. She will always be remembered for her engaging personality and loyalty to my dear Uncle George. They were among the best of the Greatest Generation coming out of WW2 to contribute to family and community. We share with our family the grief of her loss. God bless her.

Below is a quote that I know to be true:
“I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories.” –Leo Buscaglia
