Ralph Longo
AGE: 80 • Hoboken
Ralph Longo passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, January 26, 2017.
Ralph was born and raised in Hoboken, the town he loved. He would always say, "You can take me out of Hoboken, but you can't take Hoboken out of me!"
He was a parishioner of St. Anne's RC Church and was employed for 35 years by Maxwell Coffee in Hoboken. It was there that he made numerous friends and loved telling everyone his stories.
Ralph enjoyed working around the house with his Doberman, Ginger, at his side. He was known for helping others in need.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed his waterfront home at the Jersey Shore. His "beach buddies" at IBSP were wonderful, but in his heart was a special place for his "car show buddies", whom he cherished. His passion for Hot Rod cars was well known and his "Prowler" was his delight.
Ralph served 8 years in the Army National Guard as a tank driver. He was proud to serve his country, but most of all, he was devoted to his family. When they were together, his heart burst with joy.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Angela (nee Catapano), a daughter Mary Jane Longo (Ted Gray); a son, David Longo; a daughter, Patricia Longo (Tom McCarthy); and a sister, Annette Iacovelli; 5 grandchildren: Olivia & Chloe Chalakani, and Alexa, David, & Michael Longo.
A visitation will be held on Monday from 1-3 & 6-8PM at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood.
A prayer service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, on Tuesday at 12:30PM. Entombment to immediately follow in the mausoleum chapel.
