Rory Matthews
Middletown - Rory Matthews passed away on January 28, 2018 . He grew up in Middletown, NJ where he graduated from MTHS South in 1978. He was a lifelong resident of Monmouth County. Rory was a very loving person who enjoyed his friends and family. He grew up with a large, extended family. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Growing up Rory participated in ARC activities and played basketball in the Special Olympics. He liked to collect watches, listen to rock and roll, play games on his ipad and dine out on cheeseburgers. His greatest passion, however, was cars. Red was his favorite color - you may like to wear some small red item in Rory's honor.
Rory is predeceased by his parents Donald Matthews Jr. and Helen Thorpe Matthews. He is survived by his sister Elaine Hodgson (Joe) of Wilmington, DE; his brother Donald Matthews III (Katrina) of Vergennes, VT; three nieces Rebecca Hodgson Kostyuchenko and her husband Alex and their daughter Jacqueline of Brooklyn, NY; Anne Matthews Govert and her husband Jeff and their children Lauren and Nate of Alexandria, VA, Jennifer Matthews and her husband Mark Clough of Revere, MA; two uncles William Thorpe and Robert Thorpe and many cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, February 2nd from 12:30 to 1:30, with a service at 1:30, at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ. Interment will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alternatives, Inc., 600 First Ave, Raritan, NJ 08869 or The ARC of Monmouth County, 1158 Wayside Rd, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712.

I went to school with Rory when we were young . I am sorry to read of his passing. Rory always had a great smile and special demeanor I feel lucky to have known him .
