Jerry Joseph Commisso
Brick - Jerry Joseph Commisso, 63, of Brick, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Jan 5, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Jerry lived in Hazlet and Middletown, NJ before moving to Brick Township when he married his wife of 33 years, Colette Fleming-Commisso.
Jerry loved the outdoors. His favorite place to be was near the water, preferably on a boat, especially a sailboat, cruising, racing, or sharing cocktails with friends or family. He had a special place in his heart for Metedeconk River Yacht Club where he held the offices of Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear Commodore, Board of Trustee Chairman and Bar Chairman. In 2014, Jerry was bestowed the honor of Life Member. He was an avid hunter and very knowledgeable about animals and nature. Jerry was exceptionally mechanically inclined and could fix anything to make it work or work better.
Jerry is survived by his wife and caretaker Colette, his beautiful daughter Chelsea Commisso, his father Louis Commisso and his wife Mary, his sister Tara Commisso Martinez and her husband Javier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Jerry.
Jerry is predeceased by his mother, Frances Commisso, his father Jerry DePrisco, his brother Daniel Commisso.
Before retiring in 2014, Jerry was employed for many years by Ricoh Business Systems.
Funeral arrangements: Memorial gathering Friday Jan 12th, 4-8pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, Brick; Funeral Mass Sat Jan 13th, 11am at St Peters RC Church, Point Pleasant Beach. I worked with Jerry for many years at Garden State Business Machines and Ricoh.He was a great guy and he will be missed.Sorry to hear of his passing.
