Alice Johnston, longtime resident of Yuba City, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 29, 2016 in Victorville, CA. Prior to her move to Victorville, she lived in Yuba City for over 60 years. Alice was 97 years old at the time of her passing.
Following her retirement from the California Division of Highways, where she began as a stenographer and finished her twenty-five year career as an engineering aide, she spent the next twenty years as a successful consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
She loved the music of the church, and had a beautiful soprano voice. This talent she shared in the worship of Jesus as a choir member, director and soloist over her lifetime. Even at the age of 97, in her short three-month tenure in the residents' choir at the Sterling Inn Assisted Care facility in Victorville, CA, she gained notoriety as a fine singer!
Alice is survived by her daughter, Carol LaQuay, of Apple Valley, CA. She will be greatly missed by her family and many fine friends.
A service to remember and celebrate her life will be held Sunday evening, August 21st, at 6:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 916 Plumas Street, Yuba City.

I was in my early 20's when I went to work at Division of Highways (I am 69 now). Alice was so kind to me with a smile always on her face. She had a sweet, caring personality. She was so welcoming to me. What a legacy, living 97 years. My condolences to the family.
