Roy Joseph Duchene, age 70, passed away on December 9, 2015. He was born in Rome, New York, on April 30, 1945 to Ray and Marjorie Ward. At the age of 9, they moved to Placerville. After graduating from Placerville High School, he joined the Air Force.
Joe served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967, and then moved to Yuba City. He graduated from Chico State University. After 32 years of service, he retired from Clark Pest Control.
Joe was a professional drummer. He was a relief drummer for Sonny and Cher and also played with Tina Turner once. He played locally with The Chuck Raper Band for many years. He was also a baseball umpire and softball player for numerous years.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren more than anything and loved when he had a chance to just spend a day fishing.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Duchene; his children, Danny (Susan) Duchene, Erin (Teresa) Duchene and Carl (Elizabeth) Patterson; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and siblings, Rita, Ray, Dave and Fred.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Marjorie Ward and brother John Duchene.
Joe and his wife Evelyn were blessed with 49 years together loving their children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Services will be 11:00 am, December 28, 2015 at Ullrey Memorial Chapel.

Our sincerest sympathy to Evelyn & family. We knew Joe as a very kind & witty guy. He always had a funny story to share & we enjoyed talking about music with him. He was very special & we will miss him in our lives.
