Julie A. Munson
Julie A. Munson, age 77, of Yankton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, June 27, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Yankton with Rev. Dave Wildermuth officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5-7, Sunday, June 26, Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory with a 7 PM Prayer service and resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Julie A. (Morstad) Munson was born September 25, 1938, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her parents were Grant and Cleo (Conklin) Morstad. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Julie graduated from Washington High School in 1956 and Augustana College in 1960. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Munson on November 26, 1960. Two sons were born, Eric Jon and David Eugene.
Julie was a registered nurse at several hospitals and a nursing instructor at Mt. Marty College. She served several years on the Board of Directors of the South Dakota Children's Home Society. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, P.E.O., Eastern Star, and the Sons of Norway.
Julie is survived by her husband, Don; son, Eric (Chris); grandchildren: Ben, Max, and Julia; her brother, Kent (Judy) Morstad and their children: Jill, Nina, Paul, Bret, Kari and nieces, Kristi Wellendorf and Karin Munson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, David.
