Leland Baade Obituary

Leland Baade

Leland Baade, 63, entered the Spirit World on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his home in Aberdeen. Funeral services will be held at New Life Fellowship, with Pastor Jon Droege officiating at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Leland was born on September 25, 1953 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Elwin and Marian (Stone) Baade. While growing up Leland attended various schools throughout South Dakota and Iowa and graduated from the Box Elder Job Corp in Nemo, South Dakota. He worked various jobs until landing one of his favorite with Moore Construction building all the bridges around Rapid City. After meeting the love of his life, Rhonda, in Rapid City and married in 1982, they relocated to Aberdeen in 1984 where he worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a Civil Engineering Technician for 29 ½ years until his retirement in July, of 2014. His passion was spending time with his children, Sherilee and Ezra, and especially his grandchildren. He loved playing pool, golfing, family gathering, cookouts and of course riding motorcycles. Leland was all about family time and making sure everyone was happy and having a good time. He had the honor of being inducted into the South Dakota Amateur Billiard Association Hall of Fame. Leland has been a member of the FM Crusaders Motorcycle Club for over 25 years and enjoyed all club runs, charitable benefits, and poker runs. He considered all members to be his brothers and loved each of them. Leland is survived by his wife, Rhonda; Daughter, Sherilee; Son, Ezra (Rapid City); Grandchildren: Mackenzie, Makaia, Josephine, and Jaylah; Sisters: Sherri Shields and Mary Stone and brother Wayne Stone; and number of nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, brothers: Stewart, Rory and Dana; and Grandchild, Mackenzie. Per Leland's wishes, casual and biker clothes should be worn, and wants everyone to get there Harleys out and ride. www.spitzerfuneralhome.com
