Mildred Irene Naeve was born on July 11, 1926, the daughter of John and Margareta (Bannick) Naeve, in rural Deuel County. She attended school through the 8th. She then worked for various families in the Brandt area, helping with the cooking, cleaning and everyday chores. She was united in marriage to Clarence Severson on December 15, 1946, at East Highland Lutheran Church, rural Brandt. Their union was blessed with two children, Charles 'Chuck' and Kay. The couple farmed northwest of Toronto until 2001 when they retired and moved to Brookings.
Mildred was also employed at 3M in Brookings from 1972 until 1994.
Mildred enjoyed everything that came with being a farmer's wife. She especially enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, and gardening. She was a very active member in the Toronto Leganger Lutheran Church, from teaching Sunday School to working with Ladies Aid. In November 2013 Mildred's health started to decline and she moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to family.
Mildred is survived by her children, Charles (Cheryl) Severson of Viborg, SD and Kay Severson and special friend Ron Peterson of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandsons, Chris Severson of Charlotte, NC and Cody Severson of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Margo Winter and Esther (Ron) Krause, both of Clear Lake, SD; two sisters-in-law, Rosella Naeve of Milbank, SD and Ann Johnson of Long Beach, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in August of 2002; her parents; one sister, Gertrude Naeve; two brothers, Werner Naeve and Arnold Naeve and two brothers-in-law, Gerherdt Schmidt and Emery Winter.
