Eleanor Mae Baak
Eleanor Mae Baak, longtime resident of the Inn on Westport in Sioux Falls, SD, died May 21, 2017. She was 86.
Eleanor Baak was born December 7, 1930, at Lincoln County, Minnesota, to Carl and Leona (Kramer) Baak. She was raised in Elkton, South Dakota, and graduated from Elkton High School in 1948. Two years later, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she attended the Insurance Institute of America, and worked for Aetna Life and Casualty. In 1955, Eleanor moved to Sioux Falls, and continued in her insurance career with Home Ins. Co. of New York, J.J. Roberts and Cook Ins. Agency, General Casualty of Wisconsin, and Insurance Facilities Incorporated, from which she retired in 1998.
A woman of strong faith, Eleanor was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, and had served with the church circle, prayer chain, and the Zion Altar Committee. Professionally, she was a former member and past president and treasurer of Insurance Women of Greater Sioux Falls, and was chosen Insurance Woman of the Year in 1973. In her free time, Eleanor enjoyed traveling, baking and sewing.
Grateful for having shared her life are her nieces, Gail (Wayne) Sorensen, Wanamingo, MN, Karen Hall (Bruce Bondhus), Storden, MN, Cathy (Terry) Kroeger, Hartford, SD; nephew, Larry (Teri) Grenz, Lake Crystal, MN; and several grand-nieces and nephews, and great-grand-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1400 S. Duluth Avenue, in Sioux Falls. Interment will follow at 4:30pm Saturday at the Trinity Cemetery in Elkton, SD. The family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 Friday evening at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue.

My sincere sympathies to the family. I was a co-worker with Eleanor for many years.
Eleanor was a very kind and caring person.
