Rod Ellingson
Rodney (Rod) Ray Ellingson, 60, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home.
Rodney Ray Ellingson, son of Ray and Cleone (Newkirk) Ellingson was born December 5, 1956 in Schaller, IA. He grew up in May City, IA and graduated from Hartley High School. Rod was united in marriage with Terri Glover on August 26, 1978 in Round Lake, Minnesota.
Rod worked at Crystal Tips in Spirit Lake, IA for 5 years. Rod then worked in shipping and receiving at Stylecraft in Milford, IA for 27 years. Rod later worked at Nemschoff Furniture for 4 years before deciding to retire. Rod lived in Lake Park, IA for 34 years, Sheboygan Falls, WI for 2 years and most recently in Harrisburg, SD the last couple of years.
Rod was a Cubmaster, and little league coach for both girls and boys teams. He was a member of the Lake Park Volunteer Fire department and EMS for 30 years and retired from service in 2008. Rod was nominated Dickinson County Fire Fighter of the year in 2008. Rod enjoyed Nascar, hunting, fishing, and family events. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Uncle Rod had a special relationship with Bryce, Kaisha, Ethan and Harper. He loved his pets, his dalmation Katie, and a Parrot, Ellen who have both passed away and his Parrot, Captain.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Terri Ellingson; children, Tyler (Desiree) Ellingson, Chantelle (Michael) Ellingson; mother, Cleone Ellingson; sister, Connie (Mike) Van Engen; nieces and nephews, Jared, Sheila, Ethan, Angie, Brandon, Bryce, Kaisha, Harper, Amy (Shawnden); mother-in-law, Rosemary Saxon; In-laws, Tom Glover (Robin) and his children, David and Scott, Tim and Tammy Glover and their children; Tanner and Troy; Tony and Tonya Glover and their children, Justin, Leah, and Josh; Tracy and Marlin Theye and her children, Jordan and Jonathon. Many other friends and family.
Rod was preceded in death by his father, Ray, father-in-law, Dale Glover and step father-in-law, Dick Saxon; and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, February 10, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with family present. www.heritagesfsd.com

Terri, Tyler and Chantelle...So sad to hear of Rod's passing. I loved visiting and working with him. Rod always had a smile and a joke, even on the hottest days at Stylecraft! Cherish the memories you made over the years...they are precious. Take care of each other. Rest in peace Rod.
