One of the very best administrators I have ever known. Sorry to say, but we spent many days together discussing my habit of missing school, mostly on Fridays. I never lied to him about anything related to why I was absent, and he enjoyed my honesty. He always had a very knowing sparkle in his eyes. I always treated him with respect and he treated me with respect. I have often thought of him over the years, and I regret not looking him up to let him know how influential he was in my life.

Dr. Meeridink always kinda just rolled his eyes when he saw me sitting the the principals office at PH. He knew me pretty well thanks to Mrs. Gors, who did NOT find my sense of humor funny. But he did I think. He really tried not to smile when I was there for locking Mrs. Gors out of the classroom. But he did not succeed. He was a wonderful man that showed every kid that he was there because he cared, because he wanted to inspire us to be successful. And I for one, thank you. RIP sir.

Dr Meerdink, was a true inspiration to me and constant supporter as I got my doctorate. He used to enjoy teasing me saying Dr to Dr. I enjoyed when he was my principal at PH jr. high. He was related on the Lokken side and always enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed for certain.

Mr. Meerdink was always fair with the students. He cast an awesome figure, being so tall. As students, I suspect we may at times, have tried his patience. Take comfort Mr. Meerdink, in the fact that I am retired now, and drive school bus. Those times when we drove you crazy? Those same student's grand children, are now driving me crazy. Universe? You win!
