Linda Herrig
Linda Wegehaupt Herrig, 94, was called home by her Heavenly Father April 22, 2017. She passed peacefully at Luther Manor Good Samaritan in Sioux Falls, SD. Service is at 10:30 am Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell, immediately followed by a luncheon. Burial will then take place at Corsica, SD in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is on Thursday at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, from 5 to 7 with a prayer service at 7.
Linda was born on Jan. 26, 1923 in Parkston, SD to Adolph and Bertha (Schnell) Wegehaupt. She attended Parkston High School, continuing to Southern State Normal in Springfield, SD. She then taught rural school and met THE love of her life, Leslie W. Herrig. The couple married on June 22, 1945 and farmed together in Corsica for 45 years. They were blessed with 6 children. In 1990 Les & Linda moved to Mitchell, where they found out how busy retirement could be, as they explored new found hobbies. Linda's passions & talents included: Faith, family, nature, painting, sewing, music, and traveling. She also loved to share her joy of life through her volunteer work.
Surviving Linda are her five children: David & wife Evelyn (Pomona, CA); Donn & wife Jan (Waco, TX); Paul & wife Margie (Durango, IA); Judy & husband Jerry (Circle Pines, MN), Alan & wife Kay (Sioux Falls, SD); Nine grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren; brother Adolph. Preceded in death by, husband, son Glen, parents, five brothers, & two sisters.
