Philip Santa Monica, CA 5/12/2017

I just read about your son in the Wilderness Society newsletter, and was deeply shocked and saddened. It reminds me of the death of Ernie Davis, the Syracuse football star who received the Heisman Trophy in 1961 and died suddenly of Leukemia.

Why is it that our young best and brightest, the cream of our youth, suddenly die, while so many other evil humans continue to live, and damage this earth?

Only God can answer this question ---- and I believe the answer would be, "when one door closes, I open another door."

I grieve for your loss.

And assure you that your son is hiking up and down the mountains and valleys, no longer having to worry about life and death, well being and injury.

I lost my one and only beloved dog many years ago, a dog who was the love of my life and taught me to respect animals and the natural world. My sons are instructed that when my time comes, my ashes are to be mixed with my dogs ashes, and hurled over the Malibu hills toward the Pacific Ocean.

So then I will hike those mountains with my beloved Amy for eternity.

I mean no disrespect by mentioning my beloved dog, when you are grieving for your human son.

Respectfully,

Philip

I just learned of your wonderful son who was featured in an article in The Wilderness Society magazine. I wanted to send you my condolences. Without ever having known him, I know that the world lost a beautiful soul and a great potential steward of the Earth.
